Lead Singer: Florence Everbrook
Florence Everbrook is the lead singer for the London Punk group the Blind Luck Band. It was hardly the resulted of a well planned out career path, she got the job because her boyfriend was in the band. Nevertheless she has managed to take the opportunity and run with it as she has helped the band to become well respected member of the London punk rock scene and develop a loyal following throughout England.
Florence Everbrook managed to become the lead singer for the Blind Luck Band despite the fact that she had never really sung before. The job came about mainly because she was dating founder John Vanderbilt at the time. Everbrook was born and raised in Birmingham but went off to attend university in London. While at school she got a job working at a music club it was there that she met Vanderbilt. The two of them started a relationship that would eventually lead to her joining the band as the lead singer.
The Blind Luck Band got its start when Vanderbilt decided on a lark that it would be fun to start a band. He got his friend Jonas Bernaerts to join as the bassist and with nobody to be the lead singer he asked his girlfriend Everbrook to take the job. She had no real experience as a singer but that was largely true of all the members of the band. The Blind Luck Band of the early days was hardly a serious endeavor it was mainly just a group that got together to play punk covers, badly, for fun. However as time went by they improved to the point that they were able to start getting regular gigs as a cover band.
The real step forward for the Blind Luck Band came when they made the decision to start writing their own songs. Although Everbrook was only involved in the actual writing in a very limited way it did lead to a pretty dramatic change in her life. Soon the band had become a well known part of the London punk rock scene and they developed a small but dedicated local following. Although hardly a spectacular success it did mean that Everbrook could quit her job and become a full time singer.
The success of the Blind Luck Band has been largely the result of their live shows and Florence Everbrook is a big part of that. Her singing has certainly improved to the point that she doesn't seem out of place doing it professionally. However what really stands out is the energy that she brings to her performances. It also doesn't hurt to have an attractive female for your lead singer. The result is that the band has started to build a reputation outside of London and they now have a following throughout England.
