Songwriter, singer, guitar-slinger Wine-Sky’s smile is contagious. This entertainer who is blind seems to look right into the heart of his audience creating a bond going beyond the music itself. Having played concerts in the sixties, with legends such as Janis Joplin, The Dead, the Steve Miller band, and Jefferson Airplane, he brings the power and magnitude of that generation's music to today's audiences with a sound which is modern and beyond genre.
Wine-Sky, as a producer and musician, has worked in the recording studio with musicians including Taj Mahal, PeeWee Ellis, Mark Isham, Peter Tork of the Monkees, Norton Buffalo, Jon Scholle, and Clay McClinton. In 1972 Ross opened Bear West Studios in San Francisco, turning out a series of albums by many artists including Chris Isaac, Taj Mahal, Pam Tillis, Steve Seskin, Maria Muldaur, John Scholle, Herbie Hancock, and Pharaoh Sanders.
Wine-Sky has always been dedicated to the well-being of his community and has interwoven his music career with a career in community service. He served as Executive Director of several nonprofit agencies in the San Francisco Bay area helping people who are homeless and people with disabilities. Wine-Sky’s understanding of disenfranchised groups has lent passion to his songwriting and motivational speaking.
Wine-Sky was born as a premature baby and was given too much oxygen in the incubator. This caused him to have low vision for most of his life. He lost his remaining vision in 1999. Not being able to see has never been a barrier for his friendliness, sense of humor, professionalism, and advocacy in creating positive change for society.
In 2001 Wine-Sky moved to Nashville, immersing himself in songwriting and the music scene. Since the Blind Luck Music Records release of AMERICANA ROAD, Wine-Sky has appeared throughout the United States. His music, humor and storytelling often reflect his activism and advocacy by sharing the hopes and dreams of people he has met. Wine-Sky is available as a solo performer or with his backup band composed of Nashville A-Team musicians. Wine-Sky is a consummate entertainer who leaves audiences wanting more.
